Did you notice, in Romney’s New Hampshire sit down with the gay vet (and disavowal of gay marriage), that the man’s husband is actually on camera for, like, 2 seconds (approximately 2:30), and that Romney — like the politician he is — actually shakes hands with the guy (about 2:36)?

I’m sure Bush did it, too, but it’s funny seeing Obama watching from one side, and then the other, of the Army-Navy football game. Besides one more fail-safe military photo-op, I suppose he was looking for consensus.

And this was all of five weeks ago.
Not sure about the comparison to ‘68, though it’s catchy for selling magazines. As such, the symbolic connection of the cover is less to revolution in the streets than to the Occupy ritual, the human microphone.
