Bag’s Take-Away:

Rapture meets the Third Reich? I know Ryan brings much needed energy to the Romney ticket, but really….

Guess the real subject here, though, is what happens when you insert dozens upon dozens of highly creative photographers into a no-news political extravaganza that drags on for days.

American pies and Veep candidate Paul Romney Jr. aside, I’m a sucker for any photo that shows Mitt with his wallet out fondling the benjamins. (In this case, I also wasted a good five minutes of Google Image time having fantasized that that was a Social Security card in his wallet when it was actually American Express.)

Why do we need to make Aung San Suu Kyi cuter and cuddlier? I don’t entirely understand it and can only guess it’s what the media wants to reflect now that she is free (or more free than she was). It’s almost as if her accomplishments aren’t enough (when they are).

Bag’s Take-Away:

One of the reasons I like the juxtaposition of these two photos is that they show the lasting effect of one prong of Rovian philosophy: co-opting the opponent’s message (the sibling of turning your opponent’s strength against them ). And, in fact, polls show that a significant number of Obama voters and independents supported Walker

Going home, I guess. A photo that presaged the verdict, though it left me wondering if his daughter Cate is only now reading a book that came out in 2006. On the other hand, the prop also illustrates Edwards’ post-acquittal remarks about working with the poor (the focus of the book).

One of my favorites of the great photos of the presidential portrait unveiling yesterday. Getty photographer Mandel Ngan manages to capture each actor as we have always known them: the “pause for laughs” expression on George Bush’s face and Laura Bush’s trademarked camera beam in the wrong direction. Ah, the Bush Administration…sigh.
