Bag’s Take-Away:
Why do I love this shot? I love the angle of Obama’s, then Kennedy’s head combined with the angle at which Obama in the photo holds his daughter AND the little Pete Souza in the mirror. That’s beyond the all-too-obvious ploy in defense of Washington — about austerity (pass the chips, Mitch!) and bipartisanship/breaking bread.

The President served hoagies from Taylor Gourmet, which he purchased after a small business roundtable earlier in the day. Seated, clockwise from the President, are: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and House Speaker John Boehner.)

If the pattern holds true to form, O’ Boehner’s demonstration of “cry me a river” likely signals a quick drying of the eyes followed by renewed intransigence from the House GOP.

Bag’s Take-Away:
John Boehner still crying — although Neil Armstrong seems to be getting a kick out of it. With the economy dead-in-the-water and nothing constructive coming out of Washington beyond theatrics, inside-rewards and astronaut rituals, the sentimentality is — well, just embarrassing.

(photo: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images Caption: Choked Up: Speaker of the House John Boehner (R. Ohio) was emotional as Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong received a Congressional Gold Medal at the Capitol in Washington Wednesday. Astronauts John Glenn, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin also received medals.)
