Bag’s Take-Away:

Apparently, LA is just catching on to something that’s been going on in the rest of the country for years.

Yes,”WELCOME BACK TO 1965” — when Newsweek was viable and a bigger franchise then, well, Mad Men.

Bag’s Take-Away:

In Asia, we guess patronizing the insanity over an Asian basketball player takes precedence over the patronizing/lampooning of an Asian leader.

Second thought: if a phrase would have been objectionable for the Asian markets, it’s probably got the same effect elsewhere.

Third thought: Both easy lay-ups.

Bag’s Take-Away:
The emasculation of Wall Street? I don’t believe it for a second. Rather, the gratuitous snap “taking it in the shorts” feels more like New York Mag…
1. over-empathizing with the 1%-ers and those luxury goods advertisers. (Is there a shoe and suit credit on an inside page, btw?)
2. showing some Businessweek penis/ private part envy — prime examples here and below:

Bag’s Take-Away:
WTF? I spent 2nd through 4th grade living in Orange County and can tell you the KKK was very active less than 90 years ago. One neighbor belonged to the Klan and had Klan memorabilia displayed in his ranch modern living room (though he had Disney decals on the dashboard of his truck and threw up if any child sniffled in his presence); another had a cross burned on his lawn. Can you imagine how a child digests all this information in the pre-Ghostbusters days? I promise you it wasn’t with a cute, cuddly cartoon Klansman.

Bag’s Take-Away:

New ESPN cover cites sexual abuse as the sports “story of 2011.” But also note the NIKE’s behind the chicken wire when everything else about the kid is generic, and virginal. The brand ID can be seen to implicate the huge role of $$$ in college sports. Remember the tell-tale line about abuse? It’s not about sex, it’s about power.
