Bag’s Take-Away:
I saw this in yesterday’s Lens Blog “Pictures of the Day.” New York Times photographer Marcus Yam captures a sleeping Occupy protester shortly before a police confrontation over sidewalk space.
Viewing it in my news reader, I had to click through just to confirm that the photo, and the Occupy action, came from yesterday instead of last Fall. Not sure if there’s any message here about dormancy.

Ah the 1% and the wannabee 1% (that might be everyone)…. Bloomberg Businessweek has a How-To cover for you!
Learn to captain a small boat, buy a dinosaur, give money away, build a 30-story hotel, take a punch…er, wait…seriously? Maybe taking a punch is part and parcel of the 1% moniker these days.
Those 99% are just jealous.

What earns you extra attention when a fellow institution of higher learning in your state has already been made a stinging world-wide example of by pepper-spraying its students?

How about when you pepper spray children and congressional candidates?

Bag’s Take-Away:

As you can see from these screen shot of Getty Images’ ordering page, they uncharacteristically missed the Occupy Wall Street action in Zuccotti on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day. Odd, too, because this event not only marked the movement’s sixth anniversary but in true “if it bleeds, it ledes” fashion, it got plenty rough. More ironic than the lack of March 17th imagery, though, are the photos from the 18th showing the police sweeping up.

In contrast, this screen shot is from the FB page of Dan Bellini. The collection is made up of pictures taken by Daily News photographers, some AP  photographs and also photos taken by an independent photographer published at CNN’s citizen-journalism site, iReport.
