Bag’s Take-Away:
Well, it was hardly avoidable, especially as TV zoomed in closer on the pair. In the background of the Obama - Romney White House pic, the boxing gloves stand out at the not-so-vanishing point like an alarm. It wouldn’t have anything to do with Obama coming out swinging after Nov 7, would it? On the table, by the way, is the white turkey chili that was on the menu. Serving (a) white turkey, get it?? And then another nice touch: in the Today piece there is actually quote from the Majority Leader (and former boxer) about the photo. Reid said he liked it.

Okay, that’s probably the best piece of political merch I’ve ever seen.

Bag’s Take-Away:
People will flinch from the comparison for a million reasons. Still, swap candid for composed, Main Street for Camelot, and name-the-city “local legend” fast food joint for haute cuisine and, optically at least, you’ve got Obama looking — at least now, in full campaign mode — like 2012’s JFK.
The fact is, Obama is knocking the stuffing out of Romney visually. These days, in the camera’s eye, he’s, yeah: special, original, favorite, hot, fast and great. As much for the content as the fact it largely slipped everyone else’s attention, it’s my favorite pic of the campaign so far.

Every so often, campaign compassion and campaign emotion is interrupted and caused to pale by the deeper and more spontaneous kind.

Remember blind Chinese dissident Chen Guangchen? Romney used his departure from the U.S. embassy in Beijing to declare a day of shame for the United States because the U.S. was too busy planning the Clinton/Geithner talks to keep him safe? Here he is with his family in Central Park.
Looking pretty safe to me.

Another wire photo of Obama’s former nanny, a transsexual woman living in Indonesia. Still respectful, surprisingly.
(photo credit: AP Photo caption: Barack Obama’s former nanny Evie, right, shares a light moment with neighbors at her boarding house in Jakarta, Indonesia, Thursday, March 8, 2012. Since being the subject of a recent article by The Associated Press about the struggles of transgender people in this predominantly Muslim nation, the 66-year-old is overwhelmed by her jolt from transgender slum-dweller to local celebrity. TV crews troop in and out of her tiny concrete hovel. Estranged relatives finally want to meet. She even has a promising job offer.
