Bag’s Take-Away:

Well, it was hardly avoidable, especially as TV zoomed in closer on the pair. In the background of the Obama - Romney White House pic, the boxing gloves stand out at the not-so-vanishing point like an alarm. It wouldn’t have anything to do with Obama coming out swinging after Nov 7, would it? On the table, by the way, is the white turkey chili that was on the menu. Serving (a) white turkey, get it?? And then another nice touch: in the Today piece there is actually quote from the Majority Leader (and former boxer) about the photo. Reid said he liked it.

Bag’s Take-Away:

I’m thoroughly grateful for the way the great Christopher Morris captured post-9/11 and “War on Terror” America. To be honest, though, I’m not sure he exactly nailed Campaign ‘12. If you take a look at his at “On the Road” slideshow
at TIME, I see it expressing a little more of the anxiety, pensiveness and “Stepford USA” of the Bush campaigns.

Nevertheless, this one photo is smashing. I’m not sure if I’ve seen a better take on Romney, the Two America, and how thoroughly disconnected the man demonstrated himself to be from Main Street than this photo taken the day of his sham “non-campaign” hurricane food drive.

But, why post this now, Campaign 12 already consigned to the history books? Because of the challenge of keeping focus on the disconnect as we launch ahead.

On a wave and a prayer? Given his anti-government mantra, you’ve got to love the irony of all these otherwise-tragic photos of Louisiana flood victims shot from Romney’s motorcade. Talk about up shit’s creek without a paddle.

I have to think the Romney Camp is ecstatic with TIME’s Convention cover photo. It’s not just the least robotic and tight pic I’ve seen, but probably the most personable photo the man has ever taken. If you don’t see fans on the campaign trail waving it around, I’ll be surprised.

RNC2012: Good luck finding many references to Reagan in this years convention. (This sighting is notable for the fact the bust is being presented to The Donald at the convention at a rubber chicken luncheon by a local GOP outfit.) The problem in bringing up Reagan, besides the fact he raised taxes all those times and who needs to further stir up the Tea Party, is that Romney is such a weak figure, he immediately evaporates in comparison.

American pies and Veep candidate Paul Romney Jr. aside, I’m a sucker for any photo that shows Mitt with his wallet out fondling the benjamins. (In this case, I also wasted a good five minutes of Google Image time having fantasized that that was a Social Security card in his wallet when it was actually American Express.)

Curious pic of Mitt with the angle and all. What makes it interesting (and newswire worthy)? You can imagine him a Cyborg.
